Christmas Shopping..

Monday, November 20th, 2006

I’m so excited about Christmas this year.  Having someone other than my husband to shop for excites me, though it would be much more fun if Ethan was older.

We have so much Christmas shopping to do still, but I’m slowly working at it.  With my limited time away, I’ve managed to order a couple of things online for Jeff and Ethan, but am not even close to done with them.  However, I managed to finish shopping for my nephews.  Still have my parents, his parents, his sister and her fiancee.  I may possibly be buying a bit more for my one nephew, but I’m not quite sure yet.

Our tree went up sometime last week and I’m lovin’ it!  After Thanksgiving we plan on finishing our decorating.  I absolutely LOVE Christmas!  It’s my favorite Holiday.

Anyway.. onto more important things.  Ethan’s getting so big.  He weighed 11lbs, 9oz at his last appointment and was 23 1/2″ long.  :)   His hair in lightening up..   and I’m praying it starts going red sometime soon.  I’m partial to red hair, if you couldn’t guess.

The UPS man just arrived and dropped off my package, so I’m going to wrap presents before Ethan wakes up from his nightly nap!  Hopefully, I’ll be able to update soon with new pictures.. I just have to find a scanner. :)

News, news, news..

Ethan’s finally a month old!  He turned 1 month on Monday.  It is so hard to believe that Ethan’s already been here for a month.  He is getting so big and learning so quickly.. and I’m enjoying every minute of it!

We finally got his social security paperwork filed this morning.  It has taken me a little while to get it taken care of, but it’s done now.

Also.. please send out prayers for my friend Stephanie and her daughter.  Stephanie was 24 weeks pregnant and delivered Zalle’andra Renee’.  She was born November 11, 2006 at 1:30 p.m., weighing 1lb 10oz, 13 1/4″ long.  She came out gasping for air, which was a good sign of her being a fighter!  The doctor said most premie’s cannot even do that much on their own, so it’s a good sign.  After seeing Stephanie today, she told me that Zalle’andra is doing well and getting better each day.. the doctors are hopeful that they might be able to send her home in February, instead of March like they were thinking at first.

Friday I’m picking up Ethan’s first set of professional photos.. I’m so excited to get them!  My little man looked so adorable in his pictures.  Plus, It will be nice to finally have photos for my wallet so I can show him off when people ask me about him.

Anyway.. I need to go and try to get a quick nap in before he wakes back up.

Sleep..

Sunday, November 12th, 2006

I’m so exhausted and it’s the worst feeling ever!  I really cannot wait for Ethan to sleep a full 5 hours..  even 4 would be nice.  He’s slowly been allowing to me to catch a nap or two, but other than that.. I’m running on low at all times.

We started getting bills from the hospital and gosh, I’m start to feel so poor.  Not that my bills are huge when they come in, there’s just so many of them!  Oh well… one look at the outcome of the bills and I rememeber why we’re paying them.

Also.. my family has been a BIG help with Ethan.  My mom has been cooking me dinner and taking care of him so that I can take a nap at their house.  I almost got a full 8 hours the other night, but woke up to use the bathroom and couldn’t get back to sleep.  My mother-in-law on the otherhand irks me.  She comes over every Friday to help with Ethan.. and this last Friday, I ended up having to take care of him anyway.  Plus, she doesn’t let me choose how I’m spending my 4 hours.  She makes me do house work or home work, which is nice, but seriously.. why not let me nap?  I can do homework while Ethan’s awake and I’m feeding him!

Anyway..

We had Christmas with my grandparents yesterday.  I know it’s extremely early, but they are leaving for Florida soon and they like to have an early Christmas so they can watch us open presents.  Jeff, Ethan, and myself got spoiled as usual.  I really wish they’d listen when we tell them to not go all out, but they don’t.  My house is getting to small for all of the things my grandmother keeps buying me..  guess it’s time to move. :)

While Ethan’s napping, I’m going to pay some bills and nap myself.  Hope everyone had a wonderful weekend..

I feel like a million bucks right now.  My son is sleeping soundly and has been for the last few hours, which is amazing.  It’s a nice break from his usual screaming and crying fits.

I never updated about a major event that took place on Sweetest Day.  My sister-in-law is now engaged!  I am so excited for her and cannot wait for the wedding.

Anyway, I went to my classes today.. both of them!  It was so nice to be able to attend my classes, which I have not been able to for the longest time.  Well, not both of them.  I also finally got caught up in the psychology course, but now need to catch up on my assignments for my women in a changing society course.  I even got around to doing some research for my final paper and looked it all over to start my paper sometime soon.

Next weekend is my Grandfather’s wedding.  Jeffrey isn’t sure he wants to go and his sister is praying that Ethan screams through the entire event.  I’m seriously praying that he can behave himself.  :)   No one likes a fussing baby!

The house is slowly falling back into place.  We are getting things picked up and cleaned.  It has been somewhat hard to get things accomplished.  I’ve managed to keep up with the laundry and dishes.  Now I’m trying to progress onto keeping the floors mopped and swept… don’t get me wrong, we have kept the floors clean, it’s just keeping them up everyday like we used to.

Onto the sad news… we got rid of one of the cats this afternoon. :(   I did not want to get rid of her,  but we had to.  She always wanted to jump on Ethan and that’s just not acceptable.  It made me nervous and I was seriously afraid that she was going to smother Ethan.  We do still have our other cat and dog.. and they’ve done amazing!  Meep likes to lay just close enough to Ethan that he can touch him.  Rocco likes to play watch dog and keep people away from Ethan.. it cracks me up. :)

Well, this has been long enough.  Add me to your flickr account if you’d like to see Ethan’s baby pictures.  I’m keeping a close eye on who I’m allowing to see his chubby cheeks.  Goodnight folks.. :)   By the way, we’ll have a real update soon.  Ethan’s progressing so much and I’d like to share it with everyone!

Busy little bee..

Being a mom takes up so much time in my life these days, but I absolutely love it!  I cannot wait until my son sleeps a little more than 2-3 hours at a time, but other than that, everything couldn’t be more perfect!  What makes me laugh the hardest is the fact that he’s such a good boy when company shows up to see him, but then fusses as soon as they all leave.  Children are supposed to be on their best behavoir when the parents are GONE, not still in the home.. ;)

Anyway, I figured I’d update and let everyone know that things are going well and I’m still alive.  Once things settle down and we get Ethan into a real schedule, I will try to update more.  I’m just feeling the internet anymore and I barely have time to update.. so we’ll see what happens.

So we finally had Ethan..

Ethan Joseph Thomas P.

He arrived Friday, October 13th at 10:25 p.m.  He weighed 9lbs 2oz and measured at 22 inches long.

We went in Friday morning around 8:00a.m. to begin the induction process.  My doctor arrived and put a gel on my cervix to try to get the ball rolling.  After almost eight hours of discomfort, I was heart broken to hear that nothing progressed.

Around 5:30 p.m., my doctor came in and discussed the possibility of breaking my water.  At this point, I was game for whatever they were going to throw my direction.  Contractions began intensifying and becoming more regular, so we called in my nurse to get an IV drip.  I didn’t get much pain medication, but enough to allow me to relax for a little while.

Jeff and my mom left the hospital to grab something to eat and while they were gone, I kept telling my dad I thought the baby was coming.  He kept insisting that I take deep breaths and try to focus on something.  I was pretty well relaxed for the most part, but the pain was still gradually getting worse.  Once my mom came back from dinner, she called my nurse in to see about getting me something more.  Once the nurse checked me, she had a saddened look to her eyes.  At first, I thought she was going to tell me nothing progressed, but instead, she broke the news that I could no longer have any medication.

After about twenty minutes, I started feeling the urge to push and sure enough, it was time!  My nurse came in and checked me, then paged another nurse.  They rushed around to get supplies ready and to get ahold of my doctor to begin the pushing.  We began pushing and after about fifteen minutes, Ethan’s head had poked through.  At this time, I’m panicing because my doctor has yet to arrive.  A little more time goes by and he walks through the door, scrubs up, and we began.

Even though I never wanted to deliver completely natural, it was the most amazing experience ever.  The pain disappeared once Ethan was out.  I am actually glad I was able to deliver naturally and know what to expect for our next child.  He did do a little tearing, but nothing a few stitches couldn’t take care of.

I’m going to miss the movement in my tummy and the sound of his heart beating, but nothing beats having him actually here!  I’m enjoying every second of every day with him.. =)
