I finally have time to do a Tackle It Tuesday post folks- so enjoy while it lasts. We are crunched for time to get things done. Will check things off as they are completed (likely at the end of the day). I will likely add before/after photographs as well. So stay tuned folks, it will be a busy day in my house.
Winter is upon us folks!
We have been hit by snow storms from every angle, but you know what? I have never been happier! All I ask for each winter is a white Christmas and by golly George, we will have one this year. Of course, Mother Nature could pull a fast one on us and warm up, but I doubt that it will happen.
Aside from all the white on the ground- one of my favorite things about this time of year is taking part in family tradition. Growing up, we always sat around the fireplace while my father read us Christmas stories. That is one tradition I plan on carrying on with my children- after our fireplace is installed next year.
Something I never gave much thought about until reading an article in the paper is how incredibly hazardous this time of year can be in a home. One of the local families just lost everything because of a candle they had placed a bit too close to their curtains in the living room. How sad must it be to lose everything? Especially during the holiday season- a time for family, friends, laughter and cheer.
Reading that made me think about my candles, oven/stove and the fireplace we will have next Christmas. And as coincidence would have, I received an email directing me to befiresmart.com website. The website raises awareness and spreads simple tips to help keep you and your loved ones safe during the holidays. They are encouraging moms to set time asides to review fire safety precautions and response plans with their families. Even if you think you know everything there is to know about fire safety, please visit the website. You may find something you have overlooked, which could potentially be saving you and your family from any type of loss.
Let me start of by telling you that I love you! I apologize for the randomness of this letter, but my thoughts are all over the place and these days I don’t have much time to sort them out- so bare with me, Bubba.
Over the past year, you have grown so much- physically, mentally and emotionally. You are one of the most polite toddlers I have ever met. You use please, thank you and you’re welcome correctly and all the time. You still haven’t grasped the concept of the word yes, but have instead substituted it with “okay.”
Three weeks before your 2nd birthday you started putting words together in complete sentences. And a few months before that, in June I believe, you began putting two to three words together at a time. Now? You’re counting to twenty, know your ABC’s, colors, body parts, shapes, and animals. I am blown away by the fact that you could tell your grandparents all about the lemurs when they took you to the zoo in August. I am amazed at how well you can successfully identify most objects you come across. Asking questions has become a big part of our daily conversations- as you have become increasingly curious about everything.
And boy are you ever understanding emotions. You’ve learned that tears mean sad or hurt and smiles mean happy. You have also learned the meaning of funny and often times tell people you’re feeling “funny” today. You love laughing and have a deep belly laugh that is contagious. You also have a devious little laugh you like to use when you are in trouble. But let’s not forget your new, cheesin’ smile that you love to use and how big of a ham you have become in front of the camera. When you are not feeling well you let us know and if you get hurt, you point out the boo boo to us and ask for kisses to make the boo boo better.
You doodle on pads of paper you like to call “check books.” You know your full name, age, date of birth and most of your relatives names. You still like to curl up on Mommy & Daddy’s bed or sit on the couch with a book or two. Just by watching you, I can tell how desperately you want to learn how to read and we’ve been working on that.
In November you became a big brother. We were a bit nervous about how you’d handle such a drastic change, but you have taken to that change like a champ! You love your little sister more than anything, I can tell. You want to hold her, kiss her and give her hugs. When she starts crying, you’re right there to save the day and tell her “s’okay sissy, s’okay.” In the car, you like to hold her hand. And though she cannot say it yet, she appreciates all that you do for her and how much love you show her.
You are truly the greatest gift. I love you, Bubba.
Love,
Mommy
Winter is upon us- making this the perfect time to snuggle up in a pair of pajamas in front of the television with a cup of hot cocoa. At least that is how it goes in our household, but then again, our everyday attire is pajamas. One of the hottest children’s pajama companies out there is MyBabyPajamas.com. They carry about 12 different product lines of children’s pajamas and 2 lines for women.
Current product lines include: Claesen’s, Skivvydoodles, At Home Pajamas, Cherry Pie Baby, Knucklehead’s Clothing, Baby Steps Loungewear, Hatley, Papa Bear Loungeabouts, Monster Proof Pajamas, New Jammies Fruits and Veggies, and P.J. Salvage kids. My personal favorite brand is Hatley- for their adorable designs and durability at a reasonable cost. Pajamas are made from 100% cotton. Pajamas a rigorously tested before being made available on the mybabypajamas.com website.
We had our family portraits taken yesterday, after having to reschedule a thousand times. They came out better than we had anticipated, which relieves a lot of the stress I had going into the task. Notice the hot wheels in our family portrait- I forgot to hide the one I had taken from Ethan and Jeff couldn’t quite get a grasp on the one that Ethan was holding during the pictures. Ethan will be getting his two year photos taken this evening, as I forgot to bring the outfit I wanted him to wear with me.

Please welcome the newest member in my extended family: Keira Renee. She was born early this morning (4:15a.m.)- weighing 8 lbs, 9 oz and measuring 19 inches long!
