What a beautiful morning.

359584_a609_ff_dinI woke up this morning with the intentions of starting on my list of house hold chores, but found myself instead, in front the computer shopping. I have a two pair of capri’s and t-shirts that have seen better days, so I thought it best to add some new items to the collection. I am always a bit apprehensive about purchasing anything for myself because 1) I am overweight and hate buying clothes to accommodate those extra pounds and 2) my children (and I) always seem to destroy every nice or semi-decent article of clothing I own.

But today, I broke down. As I perused my closet in hopes of finding something “cute” to wear and came up with nothing, I caved. During this shopping extravaganza, I purchased 3 brightly colored crew neck tops and 2 pair of crop pants.

And in all honesty, is it pathetic that I plan on purchasing about 10 pair of men’s boxer shorts to solve my shorts dilemma? Any of my readers that are bigger, could you please tell me how where you find shorts? I need some that are not too long, but not too short either. I like them to be right about fingertip length. Any insight is greatly appreciated, as I am tired of being the fat girl who sits in the corner wearing blue jeans, t-shirts and flip-flops. I want to wear something that will help keep me cool.

Clothing shopping is a lot of fun. I certainly hate it, since like you I’m overweight (and quite so!) and it’s a pain. Eh. I usually shop at Fashion Bug, but lately I’ve been purchasing tops and flip-flops from avenue.com and oldnavy.com.

I don’t have any suggestions for your need for shorts, as I don’t wear them! I wear capris. :)

I actually never wear shorts. Or if I do, it’s only men’s athletic shorts for casual or work out. I wear capris, but I’ve seem some girls wearing what look like a cross between capris and shorts — they’re fitted like capri pants but go to the knee.

I haven’t found any that I adore yet, but try Old Navy? And also Maurice’s has a bigger sizes department that I LOVE because I can get pants that actually cover my ass and make me look good!

I have had a lot of luck with Gap shorts. They have several different length choices which is nice. I also prefer the bermuda length that hits just above the knee, because it eliminates the “ride-up” effect. I have also found that skirts are a really good alternative to shorts for me. Good Luck!
