About two months ago, Jeff and I made the decision to have a “Queen” themed 1st birthday party for Miss Addison Arlene. Friday afternoon, while perusing Hobby Lobby, I found two cake pans. After purchasing said pans, I called Granny (Jeff’s grandmother) to ask if she would be willing to decorate the cakes for me or at least show me how to do so properly. Granny laughed, agreed and then it hit me.
Addison’s birthday is not for another what- 3 months? Yet I have the entire thing planned out in my head and on paper. About a month ago, I sat down to make out the guest list. Two weeks ago I purchased table cloths, goody bags and some decor. Friday, as you know, I purchased the cake pans. And tomorrow I will be calling the venue to see if they are available on November 7th. Her party invitations are already picked out and will be ordered once we have a location set in stone.
Maybe I am a little ahead of myself, but our fall/winter months are usually the busiest months for our family. I guess I am just afraid of putting it off until the last minute and forgetting something. At least if I am planned out this far ahead we have time to remember things we may have already forgotten.
And seriously… if you saw my planner as of late, you would totally understand.

Those cake pans are adorable! If I had a seriously domestic bone in my body, I might consider getting one of those. Heh. We’re probably doing a princess theme for Alyssa’s fifth birthday, so either of those cake pans would fit perfectly!
And I hear you on early planning! Alyssa’s birthday is on October 27th… would you believe we have ALL of her birthday presents purchased? I also have two Christmas presents stashed away! It’s so funny… I used to (lightly) make fun of the early shoppers and planners, and here I am, joining their ranks!
Hah! She’s turning 1 but she gets a Queen themed party? We’re bypassing princess and going straight to queen at one year old!!
Fall/winter are also the busiest months for us. lol that’s wonderful that you’ve already planned her party out. She’s lucky to have a wonderful mother like you.
