Jabbing myself in the eye would have been more fun.
Tuesday evening, my nephews came down for the week to visit. Usually I am excited about these events, but not this week. In fact, I was ready to lose my mind after spending the afternoon/evening with them Wednesday and again yesterday.
On Wednesday, my mother and I took all of the kids (including my neighbor boy) to the show to watch G-Force. We went into the theater praying that all of the boys would sit still through the movie and that Addison would keep quiet enough for the other people watching. Ethan sat through most of the movie, until he realized Tyler was down a few seats from him and he wanted to move closer towards him. Addison also watched at least a 1/3 of the movie before she passed out. All in all, our movie day was a success!
Wednesday evening was not so much of a success though, as all of the boys were fighting. Ethan was excited to see his cousins, so he was bouncing off the walls. My nephews were smacking each other across the back of the head as they walked passed one another, as well as kicking, hitting and spitting. No wonder my sister is kind of whacked– I would be too if I put up with this all the time. Then again, her children wouldn’t behave like this if she took control.
Thursday really didn’t get any better either. My mom wanted to take the four kids down to the outlet’s to purchase my nephews some back to school clothes and my children some regular ‘ol clothing. We figured that with the three adults, we would have everything under control. Riiiiiight. Ethan was wanting to run around the store, so I simply took him out to the car to hangout with his Dad and Addison, so my dilemma of misbehaving children was solved. The other two? Not so much.
And then to think, we hadn’t punished ourselves enough. We agreed to take them to the Portrait Studio to have pictures taken while my mom went into the bank for a quick closing. We got some good pictures of the boys and Addison, but the attitude and fighting was beyond what one single, sane person could handle.
Never again will I put myself through all of the torture. Never again will I agree to babysit these two monsters. And to think… we still have two more days with them. Thankfully, we’ll have some degree of separation today. While they are away playing with my parents at Michigan Adventure’s, I will be spending the day relaxing with my grandmother and uncle.

This, is why I don’t like other people’s kids! Haha. Two more days and you’ll be fine. Just breathe.
I read a few topics. I respect your work and added blog to favorites.
I added your blog to bookmarks. And i’ll read your articles more often!
Hopefully the next few days were better. How old are they?
Ugh, hope things calm down for you. That’s why I’m so glad to not be nannying any more! I like to play with kids for a few hours and then I’m like, “OK, Emmy needs to read and zone out and have a cocktail now.”
Very nice site!
