We thrive on organization.

Back in February, the husband and I made a quick decision (upon reading Dooce’s blog) to purchase the Expedit bookcase from IKEA.  We are a family that thrives on organization; a family that is sure that every last toy, book or movie has a home of their own.  Our Expedit bookcase?  Yeah, it is an obsessive, compulsive organizers dream. Who knew you could fall in love with a simple piece of furniture? We use our bookcase as storage for Ethan and Addison’s toys and books, but are hoping to purchase a second bookcase to store the items we still have packed away in boxes.

Come Spring 2010, when Jeff and I make the plunge into home ownership again, I will be spending an entire afternoon looking for storage solutions and organization solutions- at which point I am sure I will wind up at IKEA. Honestly, I am not a huge fan of everything they sell, but they have amazing prices and some great pieces. I am more in awe of the size of their store and how unique their merchandise is in comparison to other stores in our area. And for more honesty, I believe that if I ever won the lotto or met a person with very deep pockets that was interested, I would totally meet up with business plan consultants about franchising an IKEA closer to home.
