Always helping out.
About two years ago, I switched my auto insurance from State Farm to All State, without ever looking back. My brother was working for All State at the time of the switch and so I thought, hey! why not be supportive of his new career? Except it turns out that I was actually doing something good for myself in the process too. We wound up saving ourselves over a $100/month by switching and were able to throw in rental insurance for $20/month. I was so ecstatic about how much money we were saving, so I spread the news like wildfire.
Yesterday, I was quickly reminded about those people I was able to help save money by referring them to my All State carrier (who happens to be 2 hours away). Melanie’s husband, John, called to find out who their insurance carrier was and where his office was located. We talked for approximately ten minutes and it really started to sink in- Melanie’s gone. We ended our conversation with me reassuring John that I would be there for him, no matter what, and would help in any way possible. Once the extended family goes back to their routines, he is going to need someone to help out until he gains a sense of normality again.

I am just soooo heartbroken for him and their family. It is so tragic and just kills me. I absolutely do not understand why bad things happen to such great people, while the scum of the earth is still walking around, ALIVE.
