Getting help.
As many of you know by now, Jeff and I have separated. Whether that separation is temporary or permanent is still up in the air. Regardless of what happens to our marriage, we have made a pact to do whatever we can to ensure our children a happier, healthier future. Tonight was our first step in the right direction– we both attended a parenting class. We have six sessions in this particular parenting class and will be attending more in March.
Let me be honest for a moment in saying that I honestly expected parenting classes to be something completely different. I never thought I would attend them, but am now excited about going back for our second session. Ethan has been acting out lately and I find myself in tears some evenings just trying to deal with him, which sounds horrible, but it is so painfully true. After class this evening, I am excited about trying a “new” method of parenting with my children and am hoping for the best possible outcome. Some of their methods are new to me, while others were things I already implemented in our day to day routine.
Jeff and I rode into class together, so on the way home we had the opportunity to talk about everything. For the first time in three years (or since Ethan’s birth), I think it’s finally starting to sink in that Ethan really is not that bad of a child. He just needs the proper guidance and discipline– all of which we will be working on with the help of these classes.
On a completely unrelated note- let me go on record saying that both of my babies are growing far too quickly. As we were getting Ethan and Addison ready to head over to my parents, I discovered that neither one of my children fit into their shoes anymore. Luckily, Jeff and I were able to swing into the local shoe store to pick up new shoes for both babes. They are not mbt shoes, but ehh.. Nike’s work well for me.
