funerals.
Today dragged like you would not believe. Getting up at 5am and driving 3 hours took a lot out of me, but I am glad I attended the funeral. Being there for my Dad, step-mother and brothers felt like the right thing to do. I have not seen Grandpa C in so many years– it’s completely insane. He looks the same as I remembered him from childhood. Seeing some of the family I spent so many weekends with was great too.
I got to see Grandma T this afternoon (Amy’s mom). She did not think I would remember her, but how could I forget her? Grandma T’s house was my favorite place to go when I was younger. Her house is the reason behind the multiple ideas I have for my own dream house. I remember spending hours upon hours upstairs at her house, playing dress up, house and whatever else our imaginations could come up with. Or how amazing and creative she has always been. She made my step-mother’s dress for her wedding and O-M-G it was gorgeous!
Catching up with everyone (old and new) just felt refreshing after the week we’ve had. It was a beautiful service- though incredibly long. After the ceremony, several family members received printed boxes filled with pictures all of the kids/grandchildren had found in Grandpa’s house. Hopefully we will be seeing that side of the family again, but praying not under these circumstances.
