Facing my fears
Before giving birth to Ethan, I never knew just how many fears could consume an individual. After his birth, I was a nervous wreck. I spent hours watching him breathe out of fear that he may stop if I looked away. He slept in my bedroom for the first eight months because what if someone broke in or the house caught on fire? And what about that time that Ethan took off walking down a main road after escaping my parent’s home? Because of him I had to amend my routine any time he was awake, starting with the deadbolt locks on our doors. We purchased alarms, something I never imagined myself doing and I own a nanny cam for each floor of my home. Obsessive? Maybe. It depends on how you look at it. I pride myself of the safety precautions I take in my home, though some look at it as going too far, but with two small children, you can never be too cautious. If something were to happen to my children, my world would come crashing down on me.
