We love baby carriers.

Tuesday, September 7th, 2010 |

I have been given the pleasure of spending a lot of time with my nephew Bryce this summer.  He is just shy of six months old and the cutest little guy this Auntie has laid her eyes upon.  So what have I been doing with the little guy each time I have him besides smothering him with kisses and cuddling him until no end?  Shopping!  He loves perusing the stores with me in his adorable new EcoSash Carrier from Infantino.  We use carriers nearly every day in our household for the simple fact that this mama does not have nearly enough hands to get all of her work done and carry the youngest around.  I also tend to use carriers when I am taking the kids shopping by myself because neither of my children are old enough to walk by themselves (without causing trouble) and this frees up a seat in the car for my oldest and seat on my back for the youngest.  Genius, no?  And besides, Addie loves going for a ride on my back through the grocery store.

Both Bryce and myself love the EcoSash for it’s comfort.  I also love it for it’s stylish design and how easily it fits into my purse, the diaper bag or in the back pockets of my truck.  I also love the hands free effect for mamas like myself, who have way too much to get done and not enough time to do it all.  What I am not so fond of is the obvious– having to lug the diaper bag/purse around while shopping.  With me living in the middle of no where, I usually have to travel about an hour away from home (or more depending on the mall).  I try to make my shopping trips an all day event, especially when traveling further away.  My last shopping adventure (major shopping that is), I took Bryce with me.  We left at nearly 8 o’clock in the morning and did not arrive home until 7:00 o’clock that evening.  I took the carrier and stroller with us and we shopped ’til we dropped.  By the end of the shopping adventure, I was rather surprised that my back did not hurt.  The carrier I use for my daughter leaves me with a back ache and swearing I’ll never do it again and the EcoSash doesn’t cause any discomfort.

The Infantino EcoSash carrier comes in a 3-in-1 design and is good for babies 8-35 lbs (3.6-15.9 kgs) and is available at Babies R Us.  From August 11th – September 21st, Babies R Us is offering $10-off the EcoSash and Balance carriers.

Shopping for my favorites.

Monday, August 30th, 2010 |

Saturday afternoon, I found myself doing a little more school clothes shopping for Ethan.  I picked up a few odds ‘n ends, a couple of new tops and another pair of new shoes.  Shopping for the kids is easily one of my favorite things to do.  They both love getting new clothes and are relatively easy to shop for.

Ethan loves everything Lucas loves, which makes him easy to shop for, but breaks this mamas heart.  I used to love when my son requested sweater vests, polo tops and khakis.  Now he wants blue jeans, converse and “rocker” t-shirts (as he calls them).  Every so often you’ll catch him in urban clothing, depending on what Lucas thinks of the outfit.  I still have high hopes that my son will allow me to tweak his wardrobe just a bit, as I am not always fond of what Lucas wears.

Addison on the other hand is easy to shop for.  Look for anything girly!  She loves dresses, skirts, the color pink and fairies.  She’s a sucker for shoes and accessories.  Addison is the stereotypical girl and this mama is not complaining.  I love dolling her up, even if we are only planning on bumming around the house.

Back to school with buy.com!

Class is draining the life right out of me. I am exhausted. I find myself nodding off throughout class, or at least until we begin lab. By the time I get home, I am ready to take a hot shower and climb up into bed. I have had little to no time with my babies and miss them terribly while I am away. It’s when I get home that I secretly wish I was back in class because of all the screaming, kicking, biting, hitting and mouthiness. I love my little monsters more than anything, but y’all.. they’re not making it a very pleasant home to come home to at night.

Hence the title of this post- I am looking forward to Ethan going away to pre-school this fall. I know he’s excited about going, but probably not nearly as excited as his mama. My hopes are that pre-school will help him curb his new found attitude. We spent last week (pre classes) shopping for some school clothes and new shoes. He has a new found love for all things “rock star” because of “Uncle” Lucas and has found pretty much every guitar/skull shirt available from the children’s place clothing line, right on down to the shoes. And though I swore I was done school shopping for him, I cannot seem to peel my eyes away from buy.com. I am always on the hunt for bargains and they have some of the most reasonable prices (thus far) on children’s clothing and shoes.

What should I wear?

Tuesday, March 16th, 2010 |

On September 4th, a good friend of mine will be getting married. She has asked me to be part of the wedding party and has given us the option of wearing any style of floor length gown we wish, as long as they are in her colors. I need help deciding on which style to wear. It should also be noted that all of the bridesmaids are to wear a different style. Below are my two options (they are what is left):

What’s inside your purse?

Saturday, March 6th, 2010 |

About a month ago, Addison received a package filled with items from the My Princess Closet boutique.  In that package was this little purse, cute as could be.  Addison is in love with that purse and takes it with her every place we go.  She clings tightly to it throughout the day and never allows it to leave her side- even at bedtime.

While she was asleep the other night, I decided to sneak the purse from her bedroom.  It needed a good washing after being covered in gallons of drool and Lord only knows what else.  As I opened up the purse, which doesn’t have a large storage capacity, I was amazed at how much stuff Addison crammed into that little thing.  She’s a hoarder y’all– filling that purse to the brim with everything she can find, no matter how insignificant.

Both her and her brother’s imaginations amaze me.  They can take the simplest things and turn them into something magnificent.  Two weeks ago, after spending the weekend with my grandmother, the kids came home with an arm full of goodies.  Ethan received a car tent, Addison a Disney Princess tent.  Ethan set it up to look like a little camping village, with their play kitchen in the middle, that he calls their “store.”  They will play for hours in their tents and running to the kitchen to buy food.  Addison will open that little purse of hers, pull out one of Ethan’s animal trading cards and away she goes.  She never actually walks away with anything, but has fun pretending she’s a big girl and paying for things.  Ethan will use one of his daddy’s old wallets, pulls out a quarter and drops it into his piggy bank to pay.

Watching them play melts my heart.  I hope that as they grow older, they continue to be the best of friends.

Start spreading the news..

prodImage.msOh readers, I have found myself in quite the dilemma this evening.  You see,  I am planning a trip to New York in the new year to spend time with an old friend of mine.  I’ve never been to New York, but I am guessing the ladies dress much classier than I- who wear blue jeans/sweatpants and t-shirts all day long.  I know, I know.. what could be more attractive than the just rolled out of bed look, but in all seriousness, I am freaking the heck out about this.

I have found some shoes (hence the image of a pair of Christian Louboutin shoes) and some purses I deemed appropriate, but now I am struggling with clothes and accessories.  Any helpful suggestions?  And am I the only one who stresses over such unimportant things?  I am just afraid of showing up in New York City looking like the Beverly Hillbillies.  Plus, this trip gives me a reason to go shopping and y’all know how bad I need retail therapy these days.

Skipping Hippo Ponchos

Friday, April 3rd, 2009 |

Skipping Hippo Ponchos Raising children in Michigan weather is not always easy. I can have my diaper bag completely stocked up and ready to roll the following morning only to wake up to see 2 feet of snow in mid-April instead of the beautiful 60 degree weather we had just a day before. I honestly had two diaper bags packed at all times- one for the good weather and one for the bad, then I got smart.

Skipping Hippo ponchos offers the perfect solution to parents who live in climates like mine. And I know that jackets/coats work perfect and have worked perfectly for my son in the past, but things have changed. I have a daughter- a five month old diva that loves to wear all things cute and trendy. Instead of putting my little “Queenie” into a jacket, I cover her up with an adorable poncho (or two) from Skipping Hippos.

Many of you may know about Skipping Hippos through Parents Magazine, Tot Trends, Baby Couture or several websites across the web. Skipping Hippos is most famous for their adorable ponchos, available in multiple colors and from sizes 6 months to 6 years. All Skipping Hippos ponchos are made from super soft fleece adorned with cute color coordinating pom poms and or ric rac. Every girl will love to get their hands on these, as will those passing by.

Creator of the Skipping Hippos poncho collection have offered consumers a bit of advice when they make the decision to purchase one of their ponchos (see below).

If you and your daughter are on an undercover spy mission, do not let her wear the poncho. If you and your daughter are hoping for a low profile, dash out un-noticed, errand, don’t put the poncho on her. People will stop you, and people will notice and people will talk about your beautiful little girl in her cute little poncho.
