Dating

Monday, July 9th, 2007 |

As many people know, I am far from being a skinny woman.  I am a very full figured woman.  And while I may wish to lose some weight, I will not stress myself out over it like so many women do.

Why am I discussing weight, you might ask?  Because I have so many amazing friends, who are bigger, that think they’re single due to their size. While some of that may be true, not all men want a twig.  Some men like a little more meat on the bones.. and this got me thinking, how can I help my friends find someone who could love them for them, instead of their looks?  So I started searching and I stumbled upon a site called bbw dating. Hopefully with this site, my friends can find some BBW Romance?

Sites like this one give every woman hope that there is someone out there that’s meant for them.. especially those who have low self-esteem.

Christmas is over.. :(

Wednesday, December 27th, 2006 |

So we didn’t get the white Christmas we wanted, but Christmas was great!

Ethan was spoiled with toys, clothes, diapers, formula, books, cds, dvds, and a cd player.  It’s amazing how a childs stuff can take over a home so quickly!  His closet is jam packed..  so we’ve been putting some of it in the back of our closet!

And with all of the new gadgets our son has accumulated, we’ve decided we’re going to redo some rooms in our house.  We’re going to move the wall in our bathroom back up into the laundry room..  which in turn gives us a much larger bathroom!  I know that you probably don’t understand this because you’ve never seen my house, but it will make such a difference.  We’re also going to have more cabinet space in there, as well as a new bathtub/shower unit.  We were planning on getting a new shower anyway, so this is perfect.  We’ll also close off the old bathroom door in our kitchen and relocate it to the other wall.  This will close off our kitchen and allow for more cabinet/counter top space.  Who doesn’t need a bit more storage?

Also.. my parents house is almost near complete.  We’ll be giving them back their dresser and queen bed out of our guest bedroom and buying ourselves a nice daybed set and some shelving units for the guest bedroom.  These shelves will have books across the top shelves, but baskets on the bottom shelves for more of Ethan’s toys!  Our son was seriously so spoiled that we’re now having to be creative in our storage options.  I can’t complain too much though.. it was nice receiving all of these things.  It’s much less that we have to buy him for a while.

Jeff and I were somewhat spoiled this year, as well.  More so Jeff, but it’s okay.. I got the best birthday and Christmas present this year!  I got a bunch of clothes, some dvds, a new purse, a new printer, and board games.  Jeff got clothes, dvds, a coffee maker, and pajamas.  Together we got some new sheets, a roaster, some more dvds, coasters, picture frames, gift cards, money, etc.

Speaking of Christmas.. Jeff’s mom and my Aunt got Ethan some pajamas and they are so adorable!  The sad part is that they’re 6-12 month in size and he’s already close to out growing them!  Sometimes, I wish he wasn’t so long.. then some of the most adorable outfits alive would fit him a little longer.  I’m impressed by how quickly he’s growing and developing.  He’s holding his own head up pretty regularly now.

And I’ll end with the worlds greatest Christmas present I received…

Ethan slept 9 1/2 hours on Christmas Eve!  He did it again last night, too.  Am I a lucky mama or what? :)

P.S. – I added pictures to my coppermine gallery, so check it out!

I feel like a million bucks right now.  My son is sleeping soundly and has been for the last few hours, which is amazing.  It’s a nice break from his usual screaming and crying fits.

I never updated about a major event that took place on Sweetest Day.  My sister-in-law is now engaged!  I am so excited for her and cannot wait for the wedding.

Anyway, I went to my classes today.. both of them!  It was so nice to be able to attend my classes, which I have not been able to for the longest time.  Well, not both of them.  I also finally got caught up in the psychology course, but now need to catch up on my assignments for my women in a changing society course.  I even got around to doing some research for my final paper and looked it all over to start my paper sometime soon.

Next weekend is my Grandfather’s wedding.  Jeffrey isn’t sure he wants to go and his sister is praying that Ethan screams through the entire event.  I’m seriously praying that he can behave himself.  :)   No one likes a fussing baby!

The house is slowly falling back into place.  We are getting things picked up and cleaned.  It has been somewhat hard to get things accomplished.  I’ve managed to keep up with the laundry and dishes.  Now I’m trying to progress onto keeping the floors mopped and swept… don’t get me wrong, we have kept the floors clean, it’s just keeping them up everyday like we used to.

Onto the sad news… we got rid of one of the cats this afternoon. :(   I did not want to get rid of her,  but we had to.  She always wanted to jump on Ethan and that’s just not acceptable.  It made me nervous and I was seriously afraid that she was going to smother Ethan.  We do still have our other cat and dog.. and they’ve done amazing!  Meep likes to lay just close enough to Ethan that he can touch him.  Rocco likes to play watch dog and keep people away from Ethan.. it cracks me up. :)

Well, this has been long enough.  Add me to your flickr account if you’d like to see Ethan’s baby pictures.  I’m keeping a close eye on who I’m allowing to see his chubby cheeks.  Goodnight folks.. :)   By the way, we’ll have a real update soon.  Ethan’s progressing so much and I’d like to share it with everyone!

So we finally had Ethan..

Ethan Joseph Thomas P.

He arrived Friday, October 13th at 10:25 p.m.  He weighed 9lbs 2oz and measured at 22 inches long.

We went in Friday morning around 8:00a.m. to begin the induction process.  My doctor arrived and put a gel on my cervix to try to get the ball rolling.  After almost eight hours of discomfort, I was heart broken to hear that nothing progressed.

Around 5:30 p.m., my doctor came in and discussed the possibility of breaking my water.  At this point, I was game for whatever they were going to throw my direction.  Contractions began intensifying and becoming more regular, so we called in my nurse to get an IV drip.  I didn’t get much pain medication, but enough to allow me to relax for a little while.

Jeff and my mom left the hospital to grab something to eat and while they were gone, I kept telling my dad I thought the baby was coming.  He kept insisting that I take deep breaths and try to focus on something.  I was pretty well relaxed for the most part, but the pain was still gradually getting worse.  Once my mom came back from dinner, she called my nurse in to see about getting me something more.  Once the nurse checked me, she had a saddened look to her eyes.  At first, I thought she was going to tell me nothing progressed, but instead, she broke the news that I could no longer have any medication.

After about twenty minutes, I started feeling the urge to push and sure enough, it was time!  My nurse came in and checked me, then paged another nurse.  They rushed around to get supplies ready and to get ahold of my doctor to begin the pushing.  We began pushing and after about fifteen minutes, Ethan’s head had poked through.  At this time, I’m panicing because my doctor has yet to arrive.  A little more time goes by and he walks through the door, scrubs up, and we began.

Even though I never wanted to deliver completely natural, it was the most amazing experience ever.  The pain disappeared once Ethan was out.  I am actually glad I was able to deliver naturally and know what to expect for our next child.  He did do a little tearing, but nothing a few stitches couldn’t take care of.

I’m going to miss the movement in my tummy and the sound of his heart beating, but nothing beats having him actually here!  I’m enjoying every second of every day with him.. =)

Friday the 13th..

Wednesday, October 11th, 2006 |

Last night while sitting in class, a girl mentioned that she never leaves her house on Friday the 13th because it’s just a “bad” day.  I had to laugh.

Anyway, new topic.  We had a big doctors appointment this morning and I’m feeling good.  My doctor has decided to induce me this coming Friday, which means, my little man will be here within the next few days.  I’m so excited and can barely contain myself.. as I’ve been waiting for this day to come for a LONG time!  I just can’t believe that the day is finally here.. and I couldn’t be happier.

This definitely makes everyone in our families week better than it has been.  My mother and father seized the engine in their brand new Durango on Sunday evening, which obviously didn’t make either one of them happy.  It was a complete accident and Dodge is actually helping the insurance company covers costs because of a fault in their sensors.  Then, they come home to a great dane that’s managed to hurt himself.  They still have no idea what happened, but their one great dane has been limping around the house.  Poor Winnie.. :(

Then, Monday morning my father in law hit a skunk with his truck.  I couldn’t imagine driving it to and from everyday with that stench!

On a more positive note though..  my parents newest great dane, Moose, has made several improvements over the last couple of weeks!  He’s been gaining weight and his legs are getting strong and much healthier.  He was a rescue dog.. and ugh!  What a little lover. I will have to take pictures of these adorable little creatures once I’m allowed to be out of the house.  It’s just so hard to believe that dogs of their size are as amazingly sweet as they are!  Both, Moose & Winston, have great dispositions.  They’re big snuggle bunnies..  :)

Anyways.. my mother is on her way over.  We’re going to go get some ice cream and celebrate!  Hope everyone has an amazing weekend and I’ll be sure to keep everyone informed once baby has arrived.. it make take a couple of days, but I’ll let you all know!

Computer issues.. :(

I am becoming a major slacker on this updating bit.

Last Wednesday was my normal doctors appointment and my NST.  Everything went well and looked good.  My blood pressure was of concern for both appointments, so we have yet another thing to keep an eye on.  Lovely, no?  Oh well, that’s life.

The days have been flying by and I’ve been having a hard time keeping up with them!

Saturday was my 2nd and final baby shower, thankfully.  I do not think I could last through another baby shower.  It went extremely well and the issues I thought would occur, never did.  I’d write more about it, it’s just that right now isn’t the apropriate time to discuss the issue.  Everything we didn’t receive at the last baby shower, we received at this one.  We now are completely set and ready for Ethan to arrive!

Sunday was my NST appointment at the hospital and I was seriously nervous when I first got there.  My blood pressure did some major sky rocketing since my last appointment.  My doctor had them take my blood pressure continuely and it continued to drop down, thank goodness!  My doctor said that had it stayed up where it was, they were going to induce me yesterday.

Yesterday was just a crazy day to begin with.  Normally, I do not drive, but Jeff was exhausted from pet setting my parents two great danes.  So he slept in the car on the way to the hospital and got himself in a little nap to and from.  On our way home, I got pulled over, but the officer was amazing!  He let me go with a warning.  My hands were shaking so bad and my eyes were watering.. I figured I was getting a ticket.  After all, I was doing 15 over the speed limit.  I could have almost kissed that police officer, but it probably would not have been appropriate.

Instead of coming straight home, Jeff and I picked up a couple of things at Wal-Mart, including my prescriptions.  While walking towards the pharmacy, who should we run into?  My doctor, who lives almost 40 minutes away!  I’m not sure why he was in this town, but it was pretty odd, but nice seeing him.  He busted me for being out of bed.. but I promised that just as soon as we left, I’d be going home to bed.

But I lied, sort of.  We took a small nap, then I got hungry and we went up to the fair to grab a quick bite to eat.  What can I say.. I’m a sucker for fair food!  I love their fries and corn dogs.. plus I had to have some cotton candy.  All in all, it was an awesome evening.  When I got home, I took some ambien and passed out.

Today.. I’ve been putting off homework, but I’m getting off of here to get it done.  Plus, I need to call my father and see if he can come fix my computer sometime this week.  I’d really like to get my mp3 filled with music.. and without my computer behaving, it’s hard.

Anyway.. goodnight =)  Will try to update in a few days.

Finally!

Tuesday, August 29th, 2006 |

Last week is finally over, thankfully.  My brother is now officially a married man and I managed to last through the entire wedding and most of the reception! <3

Thursday, Beth (my sister in law) and some others came down to get things ready for the wedding.  It was a lot of fun meeting her friends and getting to know her brother’s wife Nancy better.  She has some amazing people in her life and after this weekend, I’m sure they’ll be coming around our way too.

After I left my parents house on Thursday night, I came home to relax and take it easy, but it didn’t quite happen like that.  For about 6 hours straight, I had contractions.  They were only Braxton Hicks contractions, but they were incredibly annoying!  I know that everything is right around the corner and I was truly hoping that I would avoid false labor pains.. as you can tell, I didn’t succeed.

Friday night I got pampered!  Beth, Janell, Nancy, and myself went to the salon to get manicures and pedicures.. and it was incredibly relaxing.  My hubby told me I should be going more often if I enjoyed it that much.  How sweet, eh?

Saturday morning I got my hair done and relaxed for a while before heading over to my parents to get ready for the wedding.  The ceremony went off well and everything was gorgeous.  I almost made it through the ceremony without crying, but then Mark cried.  Once he started, Jeremi (my other brother) and myself teared up a little.  It couldn’t have been a better moment. =)

The reception was amazing as well.  Everything was outdoors, so we had a little section for the kids to entertain themselves and then we had the adult section.  I tried to dance for a little while, but it was uncomfortable.  My belly started to hurt and I gave up… so I went around and visited with family/friends I have not had a chance to see in a while.  Around 2:00 a.m., I started having contractions again, so Leslie took me home to rest.  All in all, it was a super weekend.  The wedding and reception went off without any hitches.

But I need to cut this short.. it’s getting late and I’m tired.  Will try to post some pictures soon.
