One of the many things I kind of chuckle about when it comes to my children is how much they are like our entire family. My nieces and nephews bare several resemblances, but could not be further from replicas of the majority of our family. E & A are so willing to try new things, both are chatty Cathy’s and love all things related to food. And I am not talking junk food necessarily because both of ‘em are vegetable first kind of kids, meats second and everything after.

However, there is one particular “food” that they love and could consume in mass quantities if this mama would allow them. Both of my babes absolutely love donuts. They are not prejudice against any flavor of donut either… in fact, they are very much as in love with a maple glazed donut as they are a full on chocolate donut. Sadly, they are not given the opportunity to indulge themselves in donuts because though donuts are a more delicious breakfast choice, they are not always the most healthy. Something about them being fried in oil, drenched in sweetness and everything delicious that may/may not make ‘em bad for you.

Except that we e now have a way to make a healthier donut. Oh yes. You definitely read that correctly. You see, I can whip up six cake-style donuts in as little as four minutes with our BabyCakes Donut Maker, customize them with my favorite toppings and enjoy every last morsel without feeling remorse for eating something deep fried. The kids and I are absolutely in love with our donut maker, as are any of the guests at our house on Sunday mornings.

Some of my favorite features of our Babycake’s Donut Maker are:

How incredibly easy this little appliance is to clean. It has a non-stick coating which makes it that much easier to clean.

You can make six donuts in approximately four minutes.

Accessories needed to make donuts are included– no rushing to the store to pick up items you thought were included, but totally thought were included.

No frying of donuts, making them a little more healthy for you and your family.

Manual includes tips and recipes, as does the Babycake’s website.

The power & ready lights, convenient cord wrap, and latching handle.

The convenient wire cooling rack because I don’t know about you, but mine are always full from homemade bread, muffins, cookies.. you name it.

I wrote this review while participating in a campaign by Mom Central Consulting on behalf of Babycakes and received a product sample and a promotional item to thank me for taking the time to participate.

One of the things I most admire about my sister in-law is how Earthy she is when it comes to raising her children. Her children are one hundred percent organically fed, clothed, diapered and bathed. She prepares all of their meals from organic fruits, vegetables and meats. As babies, she uses a food mill to prepare their puree’s and the left overs are then put into ice cube trays for later feeds.

I am envious of her because although I tried my hand at being one hundred percent organic and Earthly, I had a hard time keeping up with the demands of the title. My children almost always ate organically and sometimes I used a food mill to prep their puree’s, but I was never at disciplined. I learned that first hand this weekend as I babysat for my youngest nephew.

I was excited to try out my new Infantino fresh food mill and stackable food pots. After I got into the groove of things late Friday night, I could barely contain myself. I wound up having to purchase little containers to store all of the foods I made for Bryce. I forgot the amount of work it took to make food for little ones, but I also felt a sense of pride. It was an amazing feeling to be able to send home all of my new goodies with my sister in-law and brother, as well as the fresh fruits and veggies. And thank goodness Bryce is too little to remember this experience because folks, that little man had a deep belly laugh going as he watched me slave away in the kitchen. I have yet to determine whether I was just that entertaining or if he knew he had me wrapped around his little finger all evening long.

I am a participant in a Mom Central Consulting campaign for Infantino and have received various Infantino products as part of my participation.

He has become a Betty Crocker of sorts and I am loving every minute. Our latest adventure was creating smoothies and making popsicles from the left over mixture. We used our new Infantino mash and serve bowl set to mash up the fruits and veggies for our smoothies and then poured the remainder of the mix into our Infantino fill & freeze puree pops.

I could not have planned a better afternoon activity for the two of us. Many of my kitchen utensils are not kid friendly, so having these two pieces made life easier. We were able to take part in a fun activity during sissy’s nap time and enjoy the benefits of our “hard” labor once she woke up.

And speaking of benefits, another fabulous benefit to these particular utensils is how durable and safe they are. I do not have to stress over the fact that my child may or may not break the pieces nor do I have to worry about them getting hurt on these particular pieces. They freeze wonderfully and clean up easily. Definitely a mama’s dream when it comes to helpful pieces in the kitchen!

When I heard that there were new Pringles Multigrain, I jumped at the chance to try them. Mom Central sent me an adorable little Pringles Multigrain tote filled with all three flavors (Totally Original, Cheesy Cheddar & Creamy Ranch) and a recipe booklet.

I was a little worried that the new Pringles would not be as good as the older version, but quite honestly, the Cheesy Cheddar and Creamy Ranch taste better. I am still not sure how I feel about the Totally Original, but I am sure I will come around to them eventually!

Do you know what else I love about Pringles? Pringles is helping fight childhood hunger, a big problem that our country is currently facing. With that said, Pringles® Multigrain has teamed up with Share Our Strength® to help make a difference. For every UPC (12-digit number on can) entered between March 15 and June 30, 2010, Pringles Multigrain will make a $1 (up to $100,000) donation to the Share Our Strength® No Kid Hungry campaign. Just imagine- by already eating a snack you love, you can take part in helping end hunger for children!

Share Our Strength is a national organization that seeks to make sure no child in America grows up hungry. Through fund-raising events, education programming, and corporate and state partnerships, Share Our Strength works hard to do more than just raise awareness of childhood hunger-they work hard to end it. Visit www.strength.org to learn more and find out how you can get involved.

Last Saturday, we had a little get together here at the house with some close friends. Having put together this shindig about six hours before guests were to arrive, I started wracking my brain on what to serve our guests. Did I want to stick with the traditional foods or try new recipes? Was it even good timing to try something new? And then I remembered the package I had received with a recipe and a few ingredients for Ultimate Party Meatballs.

I quickly put together a few dishes- relish tray; cheese, summer sausage & cracker try; vegetable try and a fruit tray and began working on the meatballs. I usually make Swedish meatballs, so trying something new was a bit nerving for me. What if I did not like the recipe? What if they did not like the new recipe?

Y’all, I am a nervous person by nature and freak out over the smallest of changes. And though I should not care about whether others like something I make or do, I care. It is part of who I am. I am the host that flutters around the house, making sure everything is perfect. Everything that night was perfect. The food was delicious, even the meatballs that I had stressed over. I received many more compliments about the Ultimate Party Meatballs than I ever had on my Swedish Meatballs. With that said, let me leave you with a new recipe..

The Ultimate Party Meatballs

Ingredients

1 14-ounce can Ocean Spray® Jellied Cranberry Sauce

1 12-ounce bottle Heinz® Chili Sauce

1 2-pound bag frozen, pre-cooked, cocktail-size meatballs

Directions

Combine sauces in a large saucepan. Cook over medium-low heat, stirring until smooth. Add meatballs. Cover and cook for 15 minutes or until meatballs are heated through, stirring occasionally.

Makes 30 appetizer servings.

Slow cooker Preparation: Place meatballs in a slow cooker. Combine sauces and pour over meatballs. Cover and cook 4 hours on HIGH.

“I wrote this review while participating in a blog tour campaign by Mom Central on behalf of Heinz and Ocean Spray and received the ingredients necessary to facilitate my review. In addition, Mom Central sent me a gift card to thank me for taking the time to participate.”
