Three weeks ago, a good friend of my parents was diagnosed with Acute Myeloid Leukemia. He is in his late forties or early fifties and one a super guy to be around. I honestly do not think I have ever witnessed this man sick in the entire 10+ years that I’ve known him. His diagnosis shocked us all.
After spending the weekend with my parents remodeling the dining room, we got on the topic of Gary and how he was doing. My mother said he was doing as well as could be expected, but beginning to feel down in the dumps. His girlfriend, Tami, told my mom that she think getting some cards in the mail would help perk him up a bit.
So after the kids get home from school today, I’m planning on having them help me pick out something from Shari’s Berries gifts to send to him, as well as making handmade cards to send up to him. The kids absolutely love Tami and Gary and the thought of him being sick really upset Ethan yesterday. He somewhat understands cancer and all the icky side effects that comes along with having it as a diagnosis.
I thought by making handmade cards and purchasing something from Shari’s Berries gifts– it would help him realized that he is cared about and that we’re rooting for him to pull through this. Plus, the “Get Well” gift sets are so incredibly delicious looking. Not to mention a select few of their gift sets allows you to pick out two items for one reasonable price that can be delivered over the course of two days.. making the thoughts extend a little further.
