Eight hours on the clock.

After nearly two months off from work, I will be re-entering the workforce tonight.  I’m a bit sadden to be going back, as I’ve enjoyed my time home with the munchkins.

When I told the kids I’d be going back to work, Addie just sort of giggled and said no.  Typical Addie response.  Ethan, on the other hand, sobbed and pleaded for me to stay home again.  It broke my heart, but at the same time, I know he understands.

I cannot lie when I tell y’all that my schedule is looking pretty good for this month, although the financial aspect of it will sort of suck.  It will cover all of my bills and necessities with a little left over for fun money, but it will not help me with my goals in paying down debt as quickly as I’d like.

Having never been a coffee drinker before, I had asked Jeff to brew me one of coffee pods. Nap time is obviously a no-go for this evening, but it will give me that little boost of energy I need. With only eight hours left until my first evening back to work, I am hustling to get things done.  Now that I am officially in charge of the Pajama Mommy Community, I am rushing to finish up last minute posts, reviews, emails, etc.  I want to do my best to try and stay on top of things.

Cold & Flu Season is well under way.

It’s that time of year again.  You know, the one that plagues most homes with children for what seems like forever.  Ethan & Addie have had their fair share of sickness and I’m sure there is still more to come.   So I made the choice to stock up on medicine cabinet must-haves!

Children’s Advil® , one of our favorite over the counter medications, provides up to 8-hours of fever relief in just one dose.  Courtesy of their online coupon ( here ) we were also able to save a little bit of money in the process.  And if you’re anything like me, you’ll love that you can stock up necessities and save a little bit of money in the process.

  • Dye-free Infants’ Advil® is available for children ages 6-23 months.
  • Children’s Advil® is available for ages 2-11 in four great flavors– Grape, Blue Raspberry, Fruit and White Grape
  • Also available in Grape chewables

a little bit of life and whole lot of random.

Ethan and Addison went to stay with their father this evening and now the house is too quiet.  Despite Addison’s horrible mood swings, I am missing them like crazy and it has been just shy of two hours.

I should be doing something productive during their time away and yet, here I am.  Holed up in front of the computer, trying desperately to catch up on emails and work that needs to be done on Pj Mommy.  In all fairness to myself though, the house is clean, laundry is caught up and I managed to finally balance my checkbook, after neglecting it for almost two weeks.  I have a list of things to do around the house still, but am lacking the motivation to get anything done.  They are not necessities, but would be much easier to do while the kids are not here is what I guess I am trying to say.  But for the moment, I am going to try to enjoy the peace and quiet, to get caught up on things I have been neglecting online and then move onto the little things around the house.

Monday will be the beginning of a long week for me, as I’ve vowed to drag my butt out of the house and look for a job.  I am desperately trying to find a new, full-time job.  My current employer is currently upset with me, having been taken off from work for two weeks due to my knee and honestly, after being treated the way I was over the phone, I am not sure I really want to go back.  It’s not as though I deliberately injured my knee to get out of work.  If I had my way, I would still be working and trying to apply for a full-time run on the 11-7 shift so that I can finally get every aspect of my life back on track.  I may not necessarily love every person that I work with, but I do love my job and the residents.  And it’s not as though I don’t understand their frustrations because I do, but I already feel bad enough about all of this and would change things if I could.

Speaking of my knee, the doctor finally found the cause to my pain and swelling.  I have torn the meniscus in my knee and am currently undergoing nonsurgical treatment.  After these two weeks are over, I will go in for an MRI of my knee if the pain and swelling persists to see just how much damage has been done.  I may or may not need surgery, which hey, let’s be honest. I am praying that I will be able to avoid surgery if at all possible.

Here’s to hoping the day/evening passes quickly so that I can snuggle up with the kids soon!

i always said i would sell my kidneys.

On Thursday morning, I left work in tears.  I was having excruciating pains in my back and stomach and I had not urinated in almost six hours.  After taking a hot shower upon my arrival at home, I curled up in bed and fell fast asleep.  When I woke up, the pain was getting worse and I was struggling to even get a little bit of urine out.

I spent much of Thursday night at the Emergency Room trying to figure out what was wrong.  We ruled out a bladder infection and urinary tract infection.  After begging for what seemed like hours, the doctors finally agreed to check for a kidney stone.  Bingo!  A kidney stone it was.

Came home, snuggled up with Gazelle and fell fast asleep.  Friday looked as though it might be a better day, but as evening approached I found myself in the fetal position crying my eyes out.  I have never felt pain like this before.  Even child birth was easier on me.

Rather than make another trip to our pathetic Emergency Room, I opted for sleep.  Except that I was rudely awaken by a sudden burning sensation across my abdomen and sharp, shooting pains in my left side.  I finally caved and headed up to the hospital, where I was admitted for they believed to be renal failure.  Nothing was done at the hospital other than IV fluids, a straight cath procedure and some blood work.

Tonight, I am still in a hell of a lot of pain.  I still have no answers, still not sure what is going on with me medically speaking.  The only things I know are that they currently have the following things ruled out:

  • Urinary Tract Infection
  • Bladder Infection
  • Renal Failure
  • Any female issues

We’ve come a long way since Thursday, no?  Here’s to hoping for answers soon, as I cannot afford to be off work much longer than I already have been for this nonsense.
