Decisions, decisions.

Monday, May 31st, 2010 |

When I found out I was pregnant with a little girl, I made the decision to learn how to make tutus, hair accessories and look into sewing classes to make little dresses.  After Addison’s birth, I would take her in to have her pictures taken and people would constantly ask me where I got the tutu’s and hair accessories.  My work is far from perfection, but I believe I do a decent enough job.  I created a small website for all of the locals to visit to see my work and place their orders, but never wanted the business to become super successful because it’s just hard work to do on your own with two little kids running around.

As more and more people asked me, I had to make some decisions about my little hobby.  Do I continue promoting it via door hangers, business cards, flyers and events or do I just have a few business cards printed and hand them as I am asked?  I went with the later, obviously, but has still proven to be successful.  Three of our portrait studios have 10-15 tutus each in their costume closets.  I won’t lie– I am pretty geeked about those numbers!

Eager to learn.

During Ethan’s nap this afternoon, I found myself in the craft room trying to decide where to begin. I have boxes up boxes and piles upon piles of things that need to be put away, yet I have no clue where to begin. Tomorrow our neighbor will be coming to stack the boxes into piles based upon what they are so that I may begin my long, awaited journey of learning new things.

Sewing is number one my list, as many of you already know. I’d love to be able to make baby blankets, curtains, burp cloths, quilts, etc. I am not sure that I would do these things to make a profit, but it would be a useful thing to know. Knitting and crocheting are also on my list of things to learn, but sewing must come first.

With all of that said, I’d like to share a few of my favorite stores/boutiques online:

Oh, how I wish I had their talents!

Updates galore!

Wednesday, March 26th, 2008 |

Ethan went down nicely for a nap today, so I have some free time to finally finish some things.

  1. If you haven’t already, check out our family website.  You’ll notice a gap in my 365 days (2 to be exact), but I am working on that.  February 21-29th photos are another memory card, while my March 12-26th pictures are still hiding in their folder.  It’s a lot of work to crop and resize photos, so those will have to wait for another day.  But at least I finally got around to doing something with the website again.. ;)
  2. The much anticipated diaper cake I kept promising pictures of… Jeff’s aunt is paying me to make her 3 of these.  :)

  3. I am working on another new design for this website.  I am over this look and have been for quite some time…  I am in the process of making it more spring-like!

So there you have it folks, all of the updates I have managed to make so far today… I am going to take a break for now and get some cleaning done.  I will leave you with this…

taken at 16 months!
