Summer is in full swing and while I have been enjoying myself on the weekends, I have also been putting off very important things and avoiding important people. I am trying to wrap my head around things still and putting together our new “norm,” but cannot seem to stay on track. So many distractions have come my way, but tomorrow is a new day and I will once again try to tackle my slacker ways and come out victorious. Or at least, that is the plan. First and most importantly is studying for a test tomorrow evening, then comes the whole catching up on assignments for my online class. Those are the two most important things at the current moment. I will worry about the less important things on Saturday afternoon while I watch the newest member of the family– my three month old nephew Bryce! Together, Bryce and I will tackle my enormous to do list, do a little bit of shopping and order new swimming pool supplies. Unfortunately for Bryce, I will also smother him with kisses and cuddles. It will be my first time watching him and goodness gracious y’all, I’m excited. I miss babies!

I was recently given a twenty-four hour challenge from Cascade and given the opportunity to try the new Cascade Complete. I have always had a dishwasher in my home and have always used Cascade liquid gel in my dishwasher. Before loading the dishwasher, I was always having to pre-wash everything. Not only does that take time away from what I was doing, but I was racking up the water bill by having to do things this way. To tell y’all I was excited about trying a product that did not require pre-washing and had a rinse aid action would be one heck of an understatement. I was through the roof and totally ecstatic– I may have even shared some of the Cascade Complete All-in-1 ActionPacs with a good friend of mine shortly after my first go!
Our challenge was to use the casserole dish sent to us via Cascade and back Blueberry Cobbler, except we are not big fans of baked blueberries in our household. Therefore, I made something I knew I always had problems with– stuffed shells. Not only did we get baked on mess from this dinner, but we could always guarantee we would have sauce stains. We would then have to allow the dirty dish to sit empty for twenty-four hours and place it inside the dishwasher. Seriously y’all– we have always had problems with red sauces staining our dishes, therefore, we have a dish we dedicated solely to baking saucy dishes. I was having panic attacks about this beautiful, new casserole dish looking like a disaster after it came out from the dishwasher. So you can imagine my surprise when I opened the dishwasher to find that Cascade Complete actually worked! I did not have baked on mess, nor sauce stains all over my white casserole dish. Dishes are not my favorite thing and getting dirty dishes after their first run? Not my idea of a good time. Cascade Complete, thank you for making this mama’s life a little more stress free.. I will be a lifelong customer.
This product reviews was based on using complimentary Cascade product provided by P&G. Bloggers also received a Walmart gift card to share with their readers. Monday began crunch time for me in terms of cleaning house. Three weeks ago, a few of my friends and myself sat down and decided together that this would be our yard sale week. Every bedroom, with the exception of mine, has been sorted through and put into piles like those on Clean Sweep- things to keep, throw away and yard sale. As a family, we have way too much stuff. Jeff and I are simple people, who love organization and despise clutter. So many areas of our current home are far too “cluttered” in our eyes, but we hoping to change that all very soon. Room by room, I will be eliminating things we no longer want/need and re-organizing the rooms. I should take before/after photographs, but honestly, I just never remember to do that.
Aside from having a yard sale this week, I am also buckling down for final exams. Is it really time for this semester to be coming to an end? Time has flown so quickly that I cannot even wrap my head around it. Last week, I registered Ethan for classes during the mornings (possibly afternoons too) and found myself sulking in the car afterward for nearly twenty minutes. Did my baby really just grow up that quickly? We go Thursday for his physical for school and have yet to schedule a dental exam (must do that soon). He is beyond excited about going to school and cannot wait to learn more about anything and everything. We shall see how he feels after a few weeks into it.. although, I am quite certain he’s still going to be in awe.

Two weeks ago, I took the pledge to switch my cleaning products, laundry products and personal hygiene products in an effort to become a more eco-friendly home. I joined Melaleuca! My products only came in the mail yesterday, but already I am addicted. I ran my first load of laundry, dishes and removed nail polish from my carpeting. I have never been so completely impressed by a product at first use. And no, this is not a paid advertisement– I was not asked to write about their company. I was just that impressed. I am even considering selling Melaleuca.
Due to the nature of Jeff’s job and how oily his skin gets, I made the decision to put their acne face wash on next months order, along with a few other products. As we use some of their products, I will be sure to keep y’all posted.

I have become my own version of an optimist. If I can’t make it through one door, I’ll go through another door – or I’ll make a door. Something terrific will come no matter how dark the present.
~ Rabindranath Tagore
You know those mornings when you wake, dragging your feet and wonder why on God’s green Earth you are up so early? That is how I felt this morning as I rolled out bed and realized it was 7:45a.m and I was the only one awake. My tune quickly changed though, as Ethan greeted me with his usual “It’s morning time Mommy! Good morning! ” and Addison with her big smile and gorgeously deep dimples as I opened the door to her bedroom. There is nothing like two happy, smiling babes to soften your mood and put a smile on your face. Despite all of the negative things surrounding our life as of late, I am still finding joy in the little things and counting my blessings.
Today was a good day, albeit a little disappointing in our fight for Addison. I was able to get a lot accomplished in a small amount of time, discovered that my fears about school were ridiculous and sorted out our finances (for the most part). We filed our taxes this afternoon and once all bills are paid, I will be able to do a little shopping to finish up some of my ideas for Addison’s room (1, 2, 3) and maybe purchase more storage solutions (1) for all of the toys (and clothing) the kids seem to be accumulating.

My weekends are usually dedicated to things like cleaning, grocery shopping and running errands preparing for the following week. With so many things up in the air right now, I went from room to room and made detailed lists on things that need to be done before our hopeful move in the spring. Yes, we are likely moving, though we’re not sure where quite yet. But there will be more on that when the time comes. Instead of my usual posts, I thought I would share part of my “to do” list with y’all.
Saturday: study!, make note cards, hand in completed assignments, take 2 online quizzes, paint the “A” on Addison’s toy box, grocery shopping (must remember to purchase furnace filters), preparing eBay stuff for shipping on Monday and cleaning
Sunday: studying some more, catching up on even more homework/work and preparing for the following week.
School has basically gobbled up the bulk of my time these days, so much of my time that Ethan told me I no longer had enough time for him anymore. What is this mama to do? I am trying to save money where I can, which is why we decided not to put him back into daycare, which means I have to do homework while can. I am thinking I may just have to cave and put them back in daycare so that I can have 3-4 solid hours of homework time and the rest of my day for my babies!

Ethan woke up on the wrong side of the bed this morning and thus, my day was a nightmare. His bottom end was planted in the “time out” chair an awful lot today, so here is to hoping it sticks in his mind and he wakes up happier in the morning.
While fighting to get him down for bed this evening, I received a text message from Centennial Wireless telling me that my cellphone bill was past due. I pulled out my checkbook, dashed up the stairs to the computer room to double check that the bill had been paid. I waited nearly 35 minutes to speak to a customer service representative, which I found to be a bit ridiculous. After getting an actual human on the line, I explained that my bill was paid online July 3rd and cleared from my checking account on July 6th. In order for her to turn my service back “on,” I had to shell out yet another $163.67 for them to do so. And here’s the kicker: I gave the lady a confirmation number for the transaction!
So to add to my already hectic schedule for the week, I now have to go into the bank, have them type up a letter to Centennial Wireless on paper with their letter head, take said letter to the local store and have them clear up this mess. The mess that could take anywhere from 1-3 weeks for them to reimburse my bank account.
Needless to say- when my contract expires in October, I will be canceling my account and switching to Alltel or AT&T. It is a shame too because despite being overly expensive and having incompetent representatives, I had awesome service with Centennial.
But as much as I would love to sit here and complain incessantly about Centennial, I must get myself off to bed. Tomorrow will be another day full of deep cleaning. There are only 2 weeks left until my Aunt comes into town (from Arizona) and our city wide yard sales, which I will be taking part in (again).
