Busy Is The Bee.

Tuesday, November 18th, 2008 |

I have been rather busy playing catch up on work, homework and our financial responsibilities. I have managed to get quite a few things accomplished today- all of which were long over due.

  • My dresser top is finally clean and filing is caught up (for now).
  • I contacted our insurance to add Addison to our policy.
  • Completed four reviews for PjMommy.
  • Emailed people back (and on a timely manner!).
  • Called the doctors, hospital, etc with insurance info.

Now I plan on going downstairs, curling up in a ball on the couch and reading through my Chemistry book.  I am taking my make-up test this evening, so please wish me luck.  I am praying that I do well on this test, but am not feeling nearly as confident as I was last week.  Oh well, there are more important things going on in my life right now- right?  Right!

I am trying very hard to stay on top of things, but having a bit of a rough time doing so.  Next week, things should start looking up.  We should have our computer back from the repaiman- our laptop memory was running a bit ragged, so we had to take it in for some minor repairs.  We’ll have internet in the primary living area again, which will make it much easier to work.  I am just glad that I am finally getting caught up on things… being behind bites the big one!

Big News!

Tuesday, March 4th, 2008 |

Finally… I have been able to complete some more of my 101 goals this week.

  • Goal #59- We’ve FINALLY installed the GPS unit into our Aztek.  Okay, so this technically has been complete since February 16th, but I keep forgetting to update about it.  The unit is amazing… I love it and will probably rely on it more than I should.
  •  #70 is almost done, too.  I have had a hard time finding curtains for our bedroom, but have found nice ones for Ethan’s and actually hung them yesterday!
  • #13 – Was just completed!  I am so proud of myself for making this choice.  Our savings took a bit of a hit, but we will be able to make up for it soon.  Plus, we really need to work harder on becoming debt free this year.

We are also very excited about accomplishing another important goal, too.  We’re pregnant!  So, I can now happily cross goal #34 off of my 101 goals list.  While we were not trying to get pregnant this early on in the year, we are still very ecstatic.  Will update you all when things happen, of course. :)   So now you know the big secret!

Cannot think up a title.

Saturday, February 9th, 2008 |

I don’t even want to begin trying to think of a title for this post… I would be at loss. Everything is going to be a big, random jumbled up mess right now anyway and how do you describe that?!

Firstly, Jeff and I will not be flying down to Myrtle Beach for my grandmother’s funeral. After giving it much thought and consideration- we’re not going. It would cost us well over a $1,000 to get there and then what? We’d be in the room with a bunch of family members that I barely know anymore (as they’ve shut me out of their lives). I wanted to be there for support for my father and my brothers… and after talking to my father, he suggested that I save the money, stay home, and when they get back we can spend time together. He didn’t have any hard feelings and was touched by the thought I was even willing to travel so far for a woman who treated me like chopped liver most of my life.

Secondly, yesterday proved to be a very good day. After taking Ethan to the babysitters, I went to get my hair trimmed and flat ironed. Cary’s amazing and pretty much always flat irons my hair for me before I walk out of the salon. She always tells me that I do not speak volumes about her work if I do not take the time to do my hair.. ;) She will not even be seen in public with me if I look a mess (which happens to be like 90% of the time these days).

Aside from the trip to the salon, I called our bank only to discover 2 things… 1) Jeff’s check is finally being deposited into our checking rather than savings and 2) our federal income tax return came in almost 4 days sooner than it was supposed to. So for those of you who have been following my 101 Goals, you will notice so many of those things getting done within the upcoming week. And the good news doesn’t end there my friends, oh no, we have more.

On my way home from town, I swung by the pediatricians office to give them a copy of our insurance card (the one we’re getting through Jeff’s work). Rhonda told me to bring it to her so she could see what could be done. They are going to try billing the insurance… and the worst that happens is that we pay 50% of the fees out of pocket vs. the 30% we’d pay if they were included in our network. Keep your fingers crossed that the insurance goes through… Either way, Dr. H’s office is trying their best to work with us and they’re willing to fill out paperwork to become part of the network. I’m telling you, you cannot ask for better service. They are an amazing doctors office.

Even with the week starting off kind of “eh,” it definitely is ending on a good foot. I think I may even treat my hubby to dinner tonight at his favorite restaurant. Just think- goals #12, 13, 18, & 21 will be complete on Tuesday morning. I’m so relieved to be able to take care of these things… it feels good to have weight lifted from your shoulders. I hope everyone has a good weekend. :)

Full speed ahead!

After sitting down and figuring out our account balances for my 101 Goals in 1001 Days page, I have decided how I’d like to spend the money from our tax return. And yes, I said I because the hubby really doesn’t care where the money is spent as long as bills are paid and it means that we can be a little more debt free. My goal or plan of action, if you will, is to make a couple of vehicle payments ahead, buy dressers for bedroom, pay off our Retail Services card (Best Buy), $1,000.00+ on our Sam’s Club Discover card, and possibly pay off the smaller two credit card balances: Chase & Capital One. Why am I not worrying about the other Retail Services card? Simple- 0% interest until 2011. As long as I keep making larger payments each month, it’ll be paid off in no time.

What ever money is left over will be put into savings. Just paying down/paying off our smaller debts helps us out.

Speaking of helping out- don’t forget to submit your Valentine’s stories for a chance to win your very own, personalized fruit roll-ups! Contest ends tomorrow at midnight. Winners will be announced Friday!!

Channel 368..

Tuesday, January 22nd, 2008 |

is going to become my best friend.  It is the local fitness channel and I am so excited to have stumbled across it.  I am far from an exercise fanatic, but I must do something about my weight.  God, please give me the strength to go to bed at a decent time and stumble out of bed to take advantage of this channel.  2008 is going to be a year of change, I can feel it. :)

Goal #24

Thursday, January 3rd, 2008 |

I’ve accomplished yet another goal!  E and I took down the Christmas tree and decorations today, as I was tired of constantly pulling ornaments out of his mouth. :\  He did worse after the holidays with the tree than before them… what gives!  Now I’m off to work on goals #51 and #52.  Will update if I get these 2 other tasks completed!

Edit://  Not only did I finish goals #51 and #52, but I also finished goals #10, #24, and #48!  I’m totally on a roll with this goal thing!  I’m hoping to finish a few more of them tomorrow, but we’ll see.  There are so many other things I need to take care of around the house.  Thank goodness tomorrow is Friday! :)

My 101 Goals..

Wednesday, January 2nd, 2008 |

As most of you know, I’ve joined my friend Jess in the 101 Goals for 1001 Days challenge.  I started working towards my goals on Tuesday and have been tackling them head on, one by one.  Today, I spent a few minutes looking into the balances owed to each individual company/person and have added those that I could find.  Once I find the remaining balances owed, I will post them too.  I figured by posting the amounts beside each pay off goal, I will be more motivated to pay them off as I am utterly embarassed by the amount of debt Jeff and I currently have lingering.  I would really like to pay off Ethan’s medical bill, capital one, and chase by the middle of next month.  Some of my other goals won’t be marked off until the end of the year, but I will be sticking to my guns for once.  Project 365, or goal #8, is probably my favorite right now.  I’ve decided to post these pictures on my flickr account for now, but plan on printing each of them and putting it into a journal/scrapbook.  And if you’re wanting to check my photos, you’ll have to wait until Friday afternoons to see them.  Some days I don’t have enough time to hop online or I’m just not home to post.

Anyway, I am off.  I need to get some cleaning done and begin making dinner for the hubby! :)
