Every time I turn around, it seems as though someone I know is moving to Florida or somewhere down south. Maybe that is an over statement, but honestly, I have heard it more times than I can count on my fingers and toes. If I could hack the heat, I may be joining them in their Fort Lauderdale job search, but the sun and I are just not friends.

When I called down to my grandparents this evening, who live in Florida during the winter, I was informed that two of their friends just purchased foreclosed homes down that direction. Is the economy that much better down there or are these people just getting one heck of a bargain when shopping? I have considered the snow bird life style, but then again.. I would only last down there for maybe two months max. When Ethan was 4 months old, we flew down to Florida to visit my grandparents and I could barely last the week we were there. I can home with the most awful case of sun poisoning and a blistery sun burn.

So for now, I think I will just suck it up in Michigan until something better comes along– if it ever does.

We woke up yesterday afternoon with the hopes of attending one of local towns “Heritage Days.” FAIL. Michigan weather does not know the meaning of cooperation, nor is it ever what it is supposed to be. Ethan was pumped about going to the parade, possibly having his face painted again (he has his face painted on Friday afternoon at another festival) and doing something fun.

Instead, we spent the afternoon at my in-laws. Not that spending time at their home is not fun, but it is very uncomfortable. While lounging in the living room, we were hit with monstrous storms- lightening struck all around us. We could hear it bounce off from their steel buildings aka “barns.” Is that not insane? Lightening bouncing off the barns? I am glad we did not let Ethan go outside, something he had been attempting to do for the twenty minutes prior to the storm.

Classes have a resumed, after a rather short (week long) spring break. Aside from Ethan’s bedroom makeover, organizing the living room and ladies night out on Saturday- I did absolutely nothing. I even slacked off on my work, but got myself caught up earlier this afternoon.

The weather in Michigan has been incredible as of late, so we have been spending a lot of time outside. We have been working on overhauling our landscaping, which has proven to be more work than originally anticipated. Progress is definitely being made and in the right direction. Despite how horrid the landscaping looks at the moment, it will look fabulous when all is done. And sadly, I forgot to take pictures of the before. Hopefully I have some decent images of the before from last years clean-up that I can show y’all.

Nothing else is new around here. We are going away for the weekend, as long as the weathers nice and everyone is healthy. Jeff’s hours at work have been cut back slightly, but it’s not too big of a deal, as he will be starting class next Monday. Have I even mentioned anything about his 3 weeks of truck driving school? If not- he will begin truck driving school on Monday. It is a three week course, Monday – Friday from 7am – 4pm. Upon completion of the course, he will begin his new career as a truck driver. Kind of nervous about it, but very excited as well.

Will keep you all posted as things happen, but honestly… nothing’s happening!

Sometime this Spring, Jeff and I went to the mall in search of swimsuits for Ethan and myself, but could not find anything.

I needed a smaller maternity suit than I had when I was pregnant with Ethan, but could only find ones that I either swam in or that I would have to butter myself up to get into. And my hubby, being the smart one in our relationship at times, suggested I try on my pre-pregnancy swimsuit and what do you know? The darn thing actually fits! The girls are some what oozing out the top, but hey… the rest of it fits!

Ethan sadly is a lost cause for new trunks. It seems that most of the boys around his age are all wearing a 2T, so they did not have any hanging around the stores. I’m just glad for those Lil Swimmers diapers, otherwise my son would have to swim naked. Pretty sure he wouldn’t mind that, but other kids might be hesitant to jump in the pool after he was done, no?

Besides the pool mambo jambo, I do have pictures of the nursery to share with everyone. Only problem is, I completely forget to take my camera out of Ethan’s bedroom before his nap time/bed time. If I wait long enough during his nap, I’m sure I’ll be able to sneak in there without a problem so that I can show you all. Just don’t be too surprised by the dullness of the room. We have managed to get the walls painted, valance hung, crib together, and bedding in the crib. We still need to purchase a dresser/changing table, rocking chair, and some more decor for the nursery. We are just waiting to get those things until after my mama’s surprise birthday party, as we may need to use the nursery as a guest bedroom that weekend. Anyways, I’m off… need to finish our grocery list and do some cleaning before Ethan wakes up from his nap.
